Feeling Lost in Life? Your BaZi Birth Chart May Explain Why

I’m Gina Chung 白露 from China, a practitioner of BaZi, I Ching, and Feng Shui, as well as a guide in Daoist wisdom and energy alignment. After analyzing many Bazi charts over time, I started trying to look at Western psychology and BaZi astrology together. I discovered something very interesting.

In psychology, there is a concept called self-identity. Some people clearly know who they are and have a strong sense of boundaries, but others are prone to doubting themselves, pleasing others, and even not knowing what they truly want.

In BaZi, we can actually see similar energy structures. People with certain BaZi charts are more likely to be sensitive, experience internal friction, and care deeply about others’ evaluations, while others are born with more self-power.

Many times, we think this is a personality issue. But from a BaZi perspective, it is actually related to a person’s innate energy structure.

So I want to ask you a question:

Is there a reflection of yourself in this?

Do you often feel:

You care a lot about what others think of you

Prone to internal friction and sensitivity

Always pleasing others

Clearly have potential, but dare not truly be yourself

If so, maybe the problem is not that you are not good enough. Many times, you just haven’t really understood yourself yet.

From the dual perspectives of Eastern BaZi astrology and Western psychology, lack of self identity is never a sign of weak character, but a signal of internal energy imbalance and unstable self-foundation. The Day Master in BaZi represents the "core self", similar to the "self-sense" in psychology. When the energy of this "self" is suppressed, consumed, or unsupported, you will fall into a predicament of self-doubt and low self-worth, corresponding to low self-esteem, people-pleasing personality, and existential anxiety in Western psychology.

The following five are typical BaZi astrological structures that lead to lack of self identity. Those who always struggle with self-doubt and internal friction often have the dual characteristics of these 5 astrological and psychological traits.

1. Weak Day Master Without Support: Inherent Lack of Sense of Security

In BaZi, if the Day Master is in a weak energy, has no root in the Earthly Branches, and has no Stars to nourish it or Shoulder Brothers/Rob Wealth Stars to assist it, it is like a plant without roots, enduring all winds and rains alone, with no internal support or external reliance.

Corresponding to psychology: This is a lack of core sense of security with an extremely weak self-sense. Subconsciously, you firmly believe that "I have no strength, and I cannot stand on my own."

You will always feel "I can't do it", have a vague sense of self, be easily defined by others' evaluations, constantly compromise and sacrifice in relationships, exchange pleasing for a little sense of existence, have a vague sense of boundaries, and live as others expect, but lose your true self.

2. Overly Prosperous Official/Kill Stars: Self-Doubt Trapped by Discipline

Official Stars and Kill Stars represent external pressure, rules, and authority. When they are overly prosperous and suppress the weak Day Master, it forms a pattern of "Official/Kill Stars Overwhelm the Day Master", and you will be bound by excessive expectations and accusations throughout your life.

Corresponding to psychology: It is a typical authority anxiety + perfectionism shackle. The superego is too harsh, always engaging in self-criticism, and taking external standards as the only measure of self-worth.

You are sensitive and anxious, extremely afraid of being denied, hesitate to take action, and even if you work hard enough, you always feel "I can't meet the requirements". You are used to thinking the worst of things and exhaust yourself in self-criticism.

3. Overly Prosperous Wealth Stars: Self-Worth Kidnapped by the Outside World

Wealth Stars represent material things, desires, and others' needs. If the Day Master is weak and cannot bear the overly prosperous Wealth Stars, you will excessively pursue external recognition, and completely bind your self-worth to money, others' evaluations, and external labels.

Corresponding to psychology: It is conditional self-esteem, firmly believing that "only if I am liked and valuable, I am worthy of being loved", which is a typical people-pleasing behavior pattern.

You always put others' needs first, are afraid of offending others or losing them, and get used to compromising and giving in. On the surface, you are gregarious and sensible, but deep down, you are extremely empty. The more you rely on external recognition, the more you cannot find the foundation of your self.

4. Seriously Restricted Eating God/Hurting Officer Stars: Repressed True Self

Eating God/Hurting Officer Stars are the outlets for self-expression, talent, and creativity. When your Eating God/ Hurting officer is restricted, it means your natural talents and creativity cannot fully show, and your potential is being blocked. It is equivalent to firmly confining your true thoughts, emotions, and talents, making it impossible for them to stretch outward.

Corresponding to psychology: It is self-expression disorder + emotional suppression. The true self is imprisoned for a long time, falling into continuous internal friction, and even producing existential emptiness.

You have thousands of thoughts in your heart, but you dare not express them; you obviously have shining points, but you deliberately hide them for fear of being judged. You hold back grievances for a long time, feel "I am useless, I can't do it well", and gradually lose enthusiasm for life in suppression.

5. Overly Prosperous Resources Stars with Weak Day Master: Dependent Personality Due to Over-Protection

Resources Stars are originally the power to nourish the self, but being overly prosperous will instead "smother the child with excessive care", just like a flower in a greenhouse tightly wrapped, losing the opportunity to grow independently, and the self-awareness cannot awaken.

Corresponding to psychology: It is a dependent personality trait, lacking the ability to make independent decisions, and self-identity is completely attached to others, unable to establish a stable internal evaluation system.

You are used to waiting for others to arrange things, want to escape when encountering problems, and dare not face the pressure of reality alone. On the surface, you have someone to protect you, but in fact, you have never really grown up. Without the guidance of others, you will fall into confusion and helplessness.
